Whole-Home Water Upgrade for New Homeowners in Woodbury, MN

No emergency this time — just a young family in their first house, tired of spotted dishes, crunchy towels, and tap water nobody wanted to drink. One visit, two systems, completely different water.

About the Project

The homeowners had just moved into their first house in Woodbury, and within a month the water made itself known: white spots on every glass out of the dishwasher, scale crusting around the faucets, towels that came out of the dryer stiff as cardboard — and a case of bottled water on every grocery run, because nobody in the family liked the taste from the tap.

The previous owners had lived with it for years. The new ones decided not to. They booked a visit through our website — no leak, no urgency, just "can you take a look at our water?"

We started the way we always do: with a test, not a sales pitch. The numbers told the story — the water measured over 20 grains per gallon of hardness, firmly in the "very hard" range that's typical for the east metro, plus enough chlorine to explain the taste complaints. The fix didn't need to be exotic: a properly sized softener for the whole house, and a reverse osmosis system at the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking. We walked the family through both, gave one upfront price for the complete job, and scheduled the installation for the same week.

What We Did

  • Installed a high-efficiency water softener, sized for a family of four and programmed to their measured hardness — not a generic factory setting
  • Added a bypass valve and a code-compliant drain connection, so the system is easy to service for years to come
  • Installed an under-sink reverse osmosis system with its own dedicated faucet at the kitchen sink — clean, great-tasting water for drinking, cooking, and the coffee maker
  • Connected the fridge's ice maker to the RO line, so even the ice tastes right
  • Tested the water before and after — and left the family a simple maintenance schedule: keep salt in the tank, change RO filters once a year. That's it.
"The difference was honestly bigger than we expected. Dishes come out clean, my skin stopped feeling dry after showers, and the kids actually drink water from the tap now. We cancelled the bottled water — that alone is paying for the filters." — Homeowners, Woodbury, MN

The Result

Two weeks later we followed up: hardness at the tap measured near zero, the scale around the faucets wiped off and hasn't returned, and the family's bottled-water habit is gone. The softener is also quietly doing a second job — protecting the water heater and appliances from the scale buildup that shortens their lives in hard-water homes. It's the kind of upgrade nobody sees, but everybody feels — every shower, every glass, every load of laundry.

Wondering What's in Your Water?

You don't need a flood to call a plumber. If your dishes come out spotted, your skin feels dry, or your tap water tastes like a swimming pool — that's your water asking for attention. We test, explain, and recommend only what your water actually needs, across Woodbury, Prior Lake, and the entire Twin Cities metro.
